Playing cricket for two different countries is a very rare thing in the cricket world. Going a step further than this, a cricketer from Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe vs West Indies) has now scored a century for two different countries.
By doing this feat, he has become a part of a unique list. Gary Ballance hit a century during the Test match against the West Indies. He has already scored a century while playing in England.
Gary Ballance has become the second batsman in the world to do so. Earlier, Kepler Wessels has scored a century while playing cricket in two countries.
Kepler Wessels scored four centuries for Australia from 1982 to 1985. After this he moved to South Africa, where in 1991, after Africa got the recognition of the ICC, two centuries came from his bat.
Gary Ballance, 33, has previously played for Yorkshire County Club in England. While being a part of this club, he scored a century. This left-handed batsman now played an unbeaten inning of 137 runs against the West Indies.
He faced 231 balls during his innings. During this, 12 fours and two sixes came out of Balance's bat. The whole team is out.
He remained unbeaten till the end. However, despite this, he could not save his team from falling behind by 68 runs on the basis of the first innings.
Between 2014 and 2017, Gary Ballance scored four centuries while playing in England. In the year 2021, a case of racism came to light in the Yorkshire team. In the matter of making objectionable remarks on teammate Azim Rafiq, he had accepted his mistake.
He was also released by the Yorkshire County Club. After this, Gary Ballance returned to Zimbabwe and started playing cricket in his country.
