Kamran Akmal played his last match for Pakistan cricket team in the year 2017 in ODI format against West Indies. He was out of the Pakistan team for the last six years. He has been out of Pakistan's national team for a long time. In such a situation, he announced his retirement from competitive cricket.

Kamran Akmal was given a place in the selection committee by the Pakistan Cricket Board a day earlier.

During a conversation with the Pakistani media, Kamran Akmal announced his retirement. Akmal said that he will not play in any format at this time.
