Ishan Kishan: ICC will ban Ishan Kishan? Controversy arose due to this childish act
The first match of the ODI series between India and New Zealand was played on 18 January. During this match, India's wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan made a deliberate hit-wicket appeal against New Zealand captain Tom Latham.
For this act, the news of a big action being taken on Ishan Kishan was coming out. According to the rules, he could have been banned for 12 matches, but he seems to be avoiding this controversy.
A stuff.nz report on Monday said that under the ICC's Code of Conduct, Ishan could be charged with a Level 3 offense of attempting to gain undue advantage, which could lead to a suspension of four to 12 ODIs or T20 Internationals. Matches are suspended. However, ICC match referee Javagat Srinath let Ishaan off with just a warning.
This matter happened on the fourth ball of the 16th over when Latham, playing his first ball of the match, was inside his crease and Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav dodged it. Ishaan suddenly went into appeal and skipper Rohit Sharma joined in the same.
The square seg umpire immediately referred the decision to the third umpire, primarily because it was unclear what exactly had happened.
Ishaan and the Indian team appealed for Latham's dismissal, indicating that the batsman had knowingly brought down his stumps.
But replays checked by the TV umpire showed that Kishan had deliberately dropped Bell with his glove long after Latham had hit the ball, after which he was adjudged not out.
The report said that match referee Javagal Srinath spoke to Ishaan about the incident after the match, in which Indian captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid were involved.
Srinath also spoke to stand-in Black Caps head coach Luke Ronchi and the team management. The visiting team is happy not to pursue the matter further.
In the first match of the series between the two teams, Team India won the toss and batted first. Batting first, on the basis of Shubman Gill's innings of 208 runs, Team India scored 349 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs.
In response to this target, the New Zealand team also batted brilliantly, but they were all out after scoring 337 runs in 49.2 overs. Michael Bracewell scored the highest 140 runs from New Zealand.
